What SDAV stands for, how it works and who carries it.

SDAV – Schweizerischer Demokratischer Arbeitgeberverband is a Swiss association with its seat in Baar. It represents economic interests, connects entrepreneurs, employers and institutions, and helps businesses understand the transformations shaping the economy.

Mission and values

Sustainable economic development through connection, knowledge and cooperation — on an independent and democratic basis.

SDAV represents general economic interests and creates connections between entrepreneurs, employers, companies, business organisations, institutions, decision-makers, experts and international networks. Its purpose goes beyond networking: to contribute to sustainable economic development by connecting businesses, institutions and expertise.

The association observes economic developments in Switzerland, in Europe and internationally, informs entrepreneurs about the transformations that concern them — digitalisation, data, artificial intelligence, regulation, trade — and organises professional and institutional events. It is developing into a modern economic institution at the intersection of business, institutions, technology and international cooperation.

Institutional positioning

Independent. Non-partisan.

SDAV is not a political party and pursues no party-political objectives. Political or institutional personalities may take part in its events or appear in event coverage; this does not mean that SDAV endorses a party or an ideology. The association engages in institutional dialogue — and remains an economic organisation.

How SDAV works

Explain rather than repeat
SDAV does not relay the news. Each analysis follows the same path — research, understand, explain, contextualise, translate into business implications — and answers one question: what does this mean in practice for entrepreneurs and businesses? The results are published as SDAV Insights and, each month, in the SDAV OUTLOOK report.
SDAV Insights
Business, institutions and technology in the same room
SDAV events are built around dialogue and long-term cooperation rather than presentations alone. Entrepreneurs, institutional representatives and technology specialists take part in the same programme — as at the joint SDAV × AKEE event planned for 26 September 2026 in Switzerland.
Events
A broad economic mandate
Artificial intelligence, data and digital transformation are among the transformations SDAV helps entrepreneurs understand — alongside productivity, investment, trade, energy and regulation. SDAV is not an AI organisation: its subject is the future of business and the economy.

International dimension and education

Switzerland is the institutional base; the perspective is international. And education is understood as an enabler of economic opportunity.

International cooperation

SDAV seeks relationships with employers’ associations, business organisations, chambers of commerce, institutional representatives, international organisations and experts in economics and technology. Recent examples: participation in the International Religious Freedom Summit 2026 in Washington, D.C., a speaking contribution at the 11th General Assembly of AKEE (Association of Kurdish Employers in Europe) in Königswinter, and the joint SDAV × AKEE event planned for 26 September 2026 in Switzerland.

Events Cooperation

Education

SDAV supports students and people who lack the financial means for education or professional development. This commitment may extend to professional education, digital skills, AI literacy, entrepreneurial education and partnerships with educational institutions.
